Protected area

Protected centres of cities, settlements and their parts: Apatin, Becej, Irig, Zrenjanin, Pancevo, Novi Sad, Kikinda, Kupinovo (ethno park), Jodna banja in Novi Sad, the Petrovaradin Fortress, the Synagogue in Novi Sad, Sombor, area around the Monastery of Kovilj, the building of the Romanian Bank in the centre of Vrsac.

Of great importance: Bac (medieval fortification), Sremski Karlovci (town centre), Fruska Gora with its monasteries and other monuments.

Under special protection as natural treasures are (examples): The National Park of Fruska Gora, 11 special reserves of nature (Deliblatska peščara, Obedska bara, Carska bara, Ludaško jezero...10 nature reserves such as strict nature reserves in the Bosut Forests, nine parks of nature (Palic, Begečka jama – The Whole of Begec, Jegricka, Zobnatica...),  85 natural monuments (geological-paleontological and geo-morphological sites; rare examples of flora and fauna, botanical and zoological sites, rows of trees, stylised parks) and two landscapes with special features (Subotička peščara, Vršačke planine).

Mission

South East European Heritage is a network of non-governmental organizations established in 2006. The mission of the SEE Heritage network is to work toward protecting and promoting our common cultural heritage with the aim of encouraging the sustainable development of the region.
