St Francis on Gurdic site, Suranje

Our negligence led to turning this space into a waste disposal area. In the year of 1956 at the bed of this creek the church of St Peter was found. It belonged to Benedictian monastery in 7th century. This church is even older than the church of St Francis. Due to the creek and its unchanged current, it wasn’t possible to spot the remains of the church, and our negligence led to turning this space into a waste disposal area. The revealing of the church foundation began by the officials of Monuments Protection Office.
